USAID Energy Security Project supports energy efficiency of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast

On July 6, 2023, the USAID Energy Security Project (ESP) held a roundtable titled “Energy markets: a pathway to standardized trading.” The event was dedicated to the current status and challenges of the wholesale energy markets in Ukraine, the market survey results, best international practices of energy trade surveillance in organized and OTC markets, and USAID ESP recommendations on the next steps to develop the markets.

USAID delivered 6,000 tons of methanol to Ukrgasvydobuvannya for stable gas production

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through the USAID Energy Security Project (ESP), delivered more than 6,000 tons of methanol worth over EUR 4 mln to JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya, the largest gas producer in Central and Eastern Europe. The methanol procured by USAID helps to ensure the production of Ukrainian gas for the needs of households, companies, and industrial consumers.

USAID Energy Security Project welcomes Ukraine’s legislative changes for energy market transparency

The USAID Energy Security Project (ESP) highly appreciates the entry into force of the long-awaited Law No. 3141 on Amending Certain Laws of Ukraine for Prevention of Abuses in Wholesale Energy Markets (previously known as Bill No. 5322), which was adopted by Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada on June 10, signed by the President on June 30 and published on the next day, on July 1.

USAID provided $3,8 mln worth of equipment to back up Ukraine’s integrated power system

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through the USAID Energy Security Project, has provided IT equipment worth about $3.8 million to National Power Company Ukrenergo (NPC Ukrenergo) to strengthen the operations of the company's main and regional dispatch centers. This assistance includes hardware, software licenses, and network equipment and will enhance the performance and reliability of the Integrated Power System of Ukraine (IPSU).

USAID provided 20 emergency vehicles to help Ukrainian district heating utilities

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through the USAID Energy Security Project, has provided 20 emergency vehicles worth about $4 million to help local governments and utilities promptly repair district heating networks damaged by Russia's strikes on critical infrastructure in Bucha, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Zaporizhzhya, Vasylkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Lutsk, Odesa, Bila Tserkva, Brovary, Rivne, Poltava, and Ternopil. Each vehicle comes with digging, cutting, welding, and safety equipment to allow energy workers to quickly repair damaged infrastructure and ensure that Ukrainians have access to heat and hot water both now and during the next winter season.
